Lightweight High Visibility Garments
When there is a need for personal visibility, then a "reflective vest" or a Lightweight High Visibility Garment can be the most practial and economic alternative. The garment can quickly be put on and it can be worn on top of other garments such as rainwear or winter jackets.
A reflective vest must be CE marked according to one of two European Norms (EN). For professional use the norm is EN 471. For non-professional use the norm is EN 1150.
EN 471 is divided into three classes of protection 1, 2 and 3. Garments certified to class 3 provides the best protection and are most commonly used on high speed roads. EN 1150 does not divide the garments into classess, but are instead using the height of the user as a basis to provide the wearer with sufficient protection.
In addition to provide visibility, some garments are developed to also protect the wearer against other risks such as e.g. heat and flame. Such garments needs to be CE marked and certified to all relevant norms.
